Authentication flow and callbacks

When users sign in (including via Netlify) the authentication flow should reliably complete callback handling and token exchange. The Netlify sign-in experience should be streamlined so redirects complete automatically, errors are surfaced clearly, and sessions aren't lost during callback processing.
